The Swing Cats

The Swing Cats

One of the most versatile and seductive vocal acts in jazz: the great voices of the 1930s and 1940s, from Billie Holiday to Chet Baker.

Biography

The Barcelona quartet made its debut with Saphie Wells & The Swing Cats (2016) and devoted its second record, Used to Be Duke, recorded live at the Jamboree, to one of the greatest composers of the swing era. Delving into the harmonies and melodies of Duke Ellington with the band’s own touch, the record grew out of the wish to pay tribute to his life and work.

They have played festivals such as Vijazz, Mas i Mas, the Grec, the Torreilles Jazz Festival (France), the Costa Brava Jazz Festival, Jazzing, La Mercè, the opening of the Tarragona Dixieland Festival and the Platja d’Aro Jazz Festival, and venues at home and abroad: Peru, Croatia, Russia, France…

“Jazz music is to be played sweet, soft, plenty rhythm.” Jelly Roll Morton
